Who must be certified in Georgia?In 2003, HB 285 amended the Georgia Erosion and Sediment Control Act of 1975 creating a certification for people involved in land disturbing .
The Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission (GSWCC) was charged with developing and implementing this program to the people who were involved with land disturbing activities. HB 285 required individuals to have a certification program for all persons involved in land disturbing in Georgia.A certification to disturb the ground and prevent run off issues assoitaed with surface water from land clearing and land disturbing acticities.All individuals involved with any earth moving or land disturbing activity should be aware of the Georgia requirements for certification.On May 14, 2007, Governor Perdue, signed HB 463 into law. HB 463 further amended the Georgia Erosion and Sediment Control Act of 1975. HB 463 required those individuals involved in the above mensioned activities working in a subcontractor capacity to attend a two-hour awareness seminar instead of the Level IA Fundamentals.
